1. Suzaan Alicia van den Berg, b. 1 Dec 1992, Port Elizabeth, Cape. Suzaan Alicia's names came from her two grandmothers. "Suzaan" is derived from Susanna, the name of her maternal grandmother. "Alicia" comes from the paternal grandmother whose grandparents were "bittereinders" who decided not to live under the British flag after the Anglo Boer War. They then emigrated to Argentina in 1905.

Suzaan's paternal grandmother was born in a town called Comodoro Rivadavia and when her grandmother's birth was registered in Argentina, her name was recorded as Alicia instead of Aletta, being the Spanish version of the name.

11. Johanna Petronella Jansen van Vuuren, b. 24 May 1903, Phillipstown, Cape, d. 1985, Petrusburg, Free State, buried: Petrusville, Cape. Johanna Petronella Janse van Vuuren left South Africa as a 3 year old girl with her parents, Christiaan Jansen van Vuuren, of occupation a teacher in Colesberg and Anna Elizabeth Snyman "Bettie" originally from Phillipstown for Argentinia in 1905. 12. Jacob Wouter du Preez, b. 24 Dec 1866, "Kweekkraal", Riversdale, Cape, d. 13 Jun 1955, Riversdale, Cape, buried: Riversdale, Cape.

Kultuurhistories bied hierdie twee geboue haas onuitputlike rykdom.

From there, at a fairly early date, Samuel (snr) migrated to Natal and settled near Howick, where he and his second wife died and are buried on the farm presently called "Benvie", but which was then called Nooitgedaght", in the Kaarkloof. Samuel (snr) was accompanied by most of his children, with the apparent exception of Samuel (jnr). I get the feeling that there may have been friction between the two!.
